FAQs

Where does it take place?

At neighborhood sites, such as host churches, that are close to where the children live and that are familiar to them and their families.

How much does it cost?

The program is free to participants. The cost of providing program oversight, reader training, books and other materials is underwritten by contributions to Lexington Leadership Foundation. Volunteers donate the greatest gift of value to the program: their time.

When is it held?

Each site establishes its own schedule. The program is generally held once per week (for 90 minutes), each week that school is in session.

What is needed?

  • Readers: Volunteers who are committed to meeting weekly with one child to share the love of Jesus and the love of reading. Training sessions are held at the beginning of each semester. Contact Sally Davenport at 859-277-3087, or e-mail:  sdavenport@lexlf.org to learn more.
  • Resources: Contributions for books and the operational expenses of Read to Succeed.
  • Host Sites: Churches and other organizations who want to serve the people in their neighborhoods.
