Fatherhood Initative

Fathers are central to the emotional well-being of their children. Research confirms that if a child's father is affectionate, supportive, and involved he contributes greatly to the child's healthy development, academic achievement, sense of self-worth, and other critical elements associated with positive life outcomes. Healthy fathers and families are essential to the overall health of our cities and neighborhoods.

Promoting The Father

Our Call

The Fatherhood Initiative seeks to address the trauma that father absence has on children, families, and communities by  increasing the number of engaged fathers and men. Through our efforts we raise awareness of challenges associated with father absence and mobilize people across sectors to address this pervasive issue. We, along with our many valued partners seek to increase and enhance bonded fathers, children, and families.

Our Goal

Through a collective impact model, the Fatherhood Initiative will educate fathers and communities on responsible fatherhood practices, healthy relationships, and economic stability among families. The Fatherhood Initiative impacts fathers and equips them to have nurturing, healthy relationships with their children and families.

Additionally, the Fatherhood Initiative seeks to increase the number of underrepresented men civically engaged across the city.

Our Vision

Lexington Leadership Foundation believes in city transformation and our Fatherhood Initiative seeks to impress the importance of promoting the father upon each sector of our community. As we improve the number of fathers and men engaged in the lives of their families and community at-large we will witness positive transformation in our cities.

Fatherhood Classes

The Fatherhood Initiative primarily delivers education in responsible parenting and healthy relationship groups. Multiple 12 week groups are offered throughout the city in neighborhood-based sites and to fathers incarcerated in Fayette County and surrounding area Detention Center's.

Fatherhood Calendar

"The program helped me gain patience and understanding. I was angry because I had lost custody of my children. Because of the support and knowledge from the Fatherhood Initiative, I was able to go to court and take ownership of my faults. When I told the judge this, he said that changed his mind. He gave me custody of my children that day."
