A staggering 71% of children in Woodhill live below the poverty line, a rate that eclipses 98.6% of U.S. neighborhoods. Meanwhile, single mother households are a common sight, outnumbering 95% of U.S. neighborhoods. This economic strain manifests in other challenges too, like substance abuse disorders, which are twice as prevalent among adults living in poverty. Amid these statistics, Woodhill Community Center offers hope and unity for the 6,000+ neighborhood residents who collectively represent 30 nationalities speak 28 different languages.
