Investing in People and Place

Building on the fruit we’ve seen from working with fathers in the Fayette County Detention Center, our team joined with Jubilee Jobs of Lexington to launch Fatherhood Essentials at the Jessamine County Detention Center.  The first week, 15 men, representing over 40 children, watched the Kendrick Brothers inspiring film Show Me The Father, where they were encouraged to see themselves as beloved and forgiven, rather than abandoned and shamed.  In the weeks ahead, we will deep dive into the heart and role of fathers, including Biblical principles, best practices, and invitation to a community that wants and needs loving, present, and courageous fathers.

Remaining true to LLF’s investment in people and place, Fatherhood Initiative recently wrapped up its revitalization project at the supervised family visitation room at the Department for Community-Based Services (DCBS) building.  DCBS and LLF-FI go way back and continue to be strong partners serving families in Lexington who are often facing incredible hardships.  With a fresh coat of paint on the walls (and the beloved barn), along with new books and toys, the family visitation room remains a welcoming space in the delicate process of healthy reunification and safe family engagement.  A special Thank You to Kerry Fryman, Keith Jones, Clyde Sloan, and Commonwealth Center for Fathers & Families for the upgrade. Join us in praying for families who will use this space: that they feel HIS love and presence in these seasons and that they are restored in Him and through Him.
